CHIHUAHUA NAMED 2019-20 REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS, M2 SEASON COMPLETED
Wichita, KS (September 18, 2020) – With the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire world, it has been voted that the 2019-2020 M2 (Major Arena Soccer League 2) season will officially come to a close naming the Chihuahua Savage as the Regular Season Champions.
There was hope for a post season in the M2 as everyone waited for the pandemic to slow down. Unfortunately this hasn’t happened and the M2 has decided it’s time to close out the 2019-2020 season. Almost every team had games remaining regular season games cancelled when the pandemic hit and sports events were shut down by state as well as local government directives.
The original plan for the M2 post season was to take place in Wichita, KS as the four teams with the best regular season records would play: Chihuahua Savage, Wichita Wings, Colorado Inferno FC, & the Amarillo Bombers.
Chihuahua in their inaugural season held the best regular season record of 12-0 in the M2 which earned them the title. Their undefeated season was a tough one as they played 10 games on the road and only 2 on the road due to scheduling conflicts. The Savage had two more home games scheduled back in March to host the New Mexico Runners, but were cancelled because of COVID-19.
With the M2 season now closed, plans are in place to work on the 2021 season including additions of new teams and an addition to the arena soccer pyramid, a new developmental league below M2 called the M3.
M3 is set to kick off in 2021 with the first three conferences already in development. The Great Lakes Conference, Heartland Conference and Rocky Mountain Conference expect to announce its member teams in the coming weeks and months.
As for M2, teams are excited and busy at work preparing for the next season with the current world situation in mind.
Arena Soccer Group, LLC (ASG) is the managing body of the Major Arena Soccer League 2 (M2). For more information on the M2, visit www.m2soccer.com as well as LIKE, FOLLOW and SHARE the M3 on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
