NEW WING PLANS TO PUT THE 'FUN' IN INDOOR SOCCER FOR FANS

While many new Wichita Wings players had the chance to watch the old Wings teams in action as kids, for Nico the experience will be completely new as he takes the field for the 40th anniversary comeback team. And it's an experience the former São Paulo FC (Brazil) player is definitely looking forward to.

Newly activated to take the field just in time for the huge pair of games against the Chihuahua Savage this weekend, Nico is determined to bring an exciting, competitive game to Hartman Arena. He plans to have fun and hopes the fans will, as well.

"On the field, I can bring something different in skill, where I always like to have fun and try to do different things where fans would enjoy watching it. But with a lot of responsibility, of course," he said.

Nico (yes, he just goes by one name like soccer greats Pele and Tatu) attended college at Park University in Missouri and also played for Kaw Valley FC said he has heard about the Orange Army and the legendary fans - and cannot wait to experience it himself.

And this Saturday is the perfect time for Nico to don the orange. The team will be wearing their orange kits for the game against the Savage and team owners have asked the fans to wear their orange gear for a Hartman Arena "Orange Out!"

And Nico is ready to meet you and wants to see you there, Wings fans.

"I would like to see all the people from Wichita and around Wichita area who support soccer to come out," he said, adding he hopes to see a full house for the rest of the Wings home games. "And I am really excited to meet all the fans and hopefully they are excited to see the team performing, as well."

Nico said he will definitely bring enthusiasm to the team and the field, something he does off the field with his favorite hobby, music. Just don't ask him to sing.

"One of my favorite hobbies is to play guitar, but I am horrible singing," he joked.

Meet Nico this weekend as the Wings take on the Savage. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster and at the Hartman Arena box office.
